Successfully Upgraded to Wordpress 2.8.5

Finally just upgraded my Wordpress to the current version of Wordpress 2.8.5

It is recommended for each and everyone of you to upgrade to the latest version for the bug fixing and security protection purpose. The followings are the latest updates for the latest version.

The headline changes in this release are:

A fix for the Trackback Denial-of-Service attack that is currently being seen.
Removal of areas within the code where php code in variables was evaluated.
Switched the file upload functionality to be whitelisted for all users including Admins.
Retiring of the two importers of Tag data from old plugins.

I did not use any automated upgrade for this time, I manually follow step by step guides from the Upgrading Wordpress Extended. It is a successful without any problem, I suggest you all who hasn’t upgrade to do so.

PHP Code Widget Wordpress Plugins

I have come to the need of using this particular plugin PHP Code Widget due to the need of inserting the Technorati button to my sidebar. To simplify my job, I found this widget extremely helpful and making my blog’s sidebars more configurable!!

Simply insert your PHP codes either in arbitrary text, HTML, or PHP code into the text box and click save. Then you are done!! Simple, quite, and flexible.

Here are the details:

The normal Text widget allows you to insert arbitrary Text and/or HTML code. This allows that too, but also parses any inserted PHP code and executes it. This makes it easier to migrate to a widget-based theme.

All PHP code must be enclosed in the standard tags for it to be recognized.

Setup Tweet This Without Wordpress Plugin

If you look at each and every of my posts, it is not difficult that you see the big blue bird icon for Twitter with a phrase “Tweet This”. Click the bird or the word you’ll be redirecting to your Twitter homepage and ready to Tweet about any of my post.

I got this without a Wordpress Plugin, thanks to JohnChow for posting this super useful guide Tweet This Post Without The Plugin. I thought this is really useful and I should share to more bloggers who are yet to have this Tweet This feature on their blog.

The steps are simple for configuration:

1) For the Tweet This to appear under every posts in the main page, go to your wordpress index.php . To insert into your every single post, go to your wordpress single.php

2) Insert the following codes in your index.php or single.php depending on where you want it to appear.(change the twitter domain username to yourself and the Twitter bird icon to your own hosting)

3) Done.

Adding Tweet This to your post encourage more tweeting of your posts, more exposure and certainly helps to drive more traffics to your blog and make more money blogging with it.

Adding Adsense In Wordpress Posts 2

Besides publishing your Adsense Ads in your Wordpress Posts, you may want to optimise your Adsense Revenue by posting your Adsense Ads in other spots that could draw your readers’ attention. Always remember, placing your Adsense Ads is very critical and it does directly affect your earning in Google Adsense. The same goes with color choice for your Ads to appear.

However, it is very significant to understand your Wordpress blog themes and to pick a right location and color for your Ads while not decreasing your blog readability as a whole.

Adding Adsense In Wordpress Post 1

While most bloggers use Google Adsense as the money generating machine so to make money blogging, most of the bloggers look for Wordpress Plugins to help to do the job. I had two posts about these Wordpress Google Adsense Plugins in Top Google Adsense Wordpress Plugins, Top Google Adsense Wordpress Plugins(Pt. 2). Most of them are really useful, for example I had been using Adsense Injection to automatically insert Adsense Ads into my post randomly and the settings was really easy.

However, what I find to be more easy is to directly do a little modification to your theme php files and you could have better control and understanding about managing and modifying your Worpress Themes.

To insert Adsense Ads on top of your Wordpress Posts:

1) Go to your Wordpress Themes Folder, and edit the single.php file.

2) Look for

3) The title setting appeared either like one of them, or could be a little different than these two. However it is fine, just look for similar line and add your Adsense codes right after the line. (This setup allow your Adsense Ads to appear under your Wordpress Posts title)

4) You are done.(For new Google Adsense user, you may need to wait for around 10 minutes for the Adsense ads to appear after the setup)

Recently I have been looking for a plugin to display my previous tags when I am writting a new post, this is because it saves my time to think or to look for previous tags that is suitable to be used in new post. So I ended up searching in WordPress Plugins and finally I get one perfect plugin called Simple Tags.

My actual intention is to look for a plugin that could show the previous tags(click tags) I have like this:

However it turns out that this WordPress Plugins is so much more powerful than I thought, even when you are typing on the Tags column it would display the dropdown automatically to show your tags record.

Other awesome features include:

Suggested tags – Automatic suggest tags for your post.

Mass edit tags – Allow you to view and manage all your posts tags and modify them all in a single page.

Manage tags – Target tags from all your posts and allow you to rename, delete them.

Simple Installation steps:

1) Download Simple Tags.

2) Extract the zip file and upload the simple-tags folder all to your WordPress Plugins folder

like /wp-content/plugins/simple-tags/

3)Activate the Plugins.

4) Adjust or change the Plugin settings accordingly to your need and you are ready to use.
